1. Challenge a pro
On the Golf GameBook app, you are encouraged to challenge top European Tour pros to a match play round. You can play a challenge match while playing a regular round of golf on any golf course. The only requirement is that you must play at least one day before the pro plays his round. The pro’s challenge round is one of the actual tournament rounds at that week’s European Tour event.
Each week you have a selection of up to 10 pros to choose from and you can take them on in a maximum of 4 challenge matches. The number of weekly challenges is based on the number of rounds the pros play in the European Tour event.
You can challenge the same pro only once a week. When playing several rounds in one week, you have to select a different pro for each match.
2. Play your own round
Once you have challenged a pro, get on the course, use GameBook for scoring and enjoy – just like any other round of golf.
In Your Race to Dubai matches you are playing with your full handicap (adjusted with slope or course rating). The match play results are based on hole-by-hole net scores in relation to par as you and the pros are playing on different courses.
The pros are playing without handicaps, but they are actually much better than scratch. To level the playing field for the match golfers receive an additional handicap boost that is based on the difficulty and conditions of the course that the pros play that week. The handicap boost for each week can be seen in the Your Race to Dubai section of the Golf GameBook app.
NOTE: Certain game formats, where there is no individual score for a player do not allow participation (for example, all Scramble formats, Foursome, Greensome etc.).
3. Follow your match
The pro’s challenge round is one of the actual tournament rounds at that week’s European Tour event. You will be reminded of your challenge by a push notification when the pro starts his round. The match play scorecard is updated live hole-by-hole, allowing you to follow the action unfold in real-time. To ensure you’ll never miss the start of your challenge match, check your settings for push notifications in the Your Race to Dubai section of the Golf GameBook app.
NOTE: If your opponent for the Saturday and Sunday rounds does not make the cut in the tournament you will be randomly assigned a new opponent for your challenge.
A set challenge and started round is always locked, i.e. you can not delete poorly played rounds and play a new one to increase your chances of winning. Even if you do not finish your round it will count as a challenge match. However, this obviously applies the other way around as well – if the pro withdraws in the middle of a round he will lose the remaining holes to you.
